We reached Chennai at 4PM on January 18th. Prasad came to station to receive us. He told us after his return from Guntur on Jan 14th he and his wife had to rush to Coimbatur since his daughter’s father in law died at age 87-known as the industrialist and a golfer Prasad said he flew from Coimbatur and came directly to the station from the airport. Mrs Prasad had to stay back at Coimbatur for a few days and returned on 21st. One evening Mr Dhod, my classmate from Banarasi and his son came and took us to his house. There we met his wife and son’s family. One of his daughters by name Swapna, was an actress in one hundred movies in Telugu, Tamil,Hindi and Malayalam films. Currently she lives in Mumbai and choreographs her shows. She is a dancer by training. Their second daughter is a medical doctor, lives in California with her family. We had a great time visiting with the family. All of us went to Gymkhana club for dinner and returned home by 11PM.
Next day Indira went to see Nirmala, her sister in law and her son. We saw Indira’s brother Dr.Venkatram last time in 2008 December. He died on December 27th, 2008. On January 21st Indira’s friend from college Ahalya came to see and spend some time. They worked for one year in1964 in JMJ College, Tenali. Ahalya is known to Nirmala and our friend from Jackson Mrs Sarada Ganti as family friends. Evening Mahinder Jain came to take us to his house. We spent a couple of hours and returned. Prasad and his wife were busy with family obligations. They had to attend a wedding reception and a thirteenth day of Malathi Chandoor’s husband. Malathi chandoor was known in 1960s to everyone who read “Andhra Patrika” , a weekly magazine for her cooking column “Vantaloo –Pindi Vantaloo”. Prasads were scheduled to be at Coimbature for the 10th day ceremonies of their daughter’s father in law. We left Chennai on 22nd for Hyderabad by flight.
