The 2500 page 3- Volume publication by ASME Press priced at nearly $ 600/= has been release for sale on July 1st 2009. Even preceding the release on July 1st there were 125 ‘pre-published’ orders of the 3-volume sets, out of the 450 sets authorized for publication by ASME press. Thus, it is expected that this publication used practically by every nuclear facility around the world, will be ‘out of print’ by this time next year.
With the completion and publication of this, email quote (Monday, July 6, 2009, 2:37 PM), from one of the 140 authors, is given below about this publication, along with my response:
“Dear K.R.,
Studying the Third Edition to your "Companion Guide to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code," I realized once again how much you have done to advance the state-of-the-art in Pressure Vessel & Piping Technology. You were able to get all the right people on the right subjects and because of your broad understanding of the technology, you were able to organize and edit these Companion Guides skillfully. The Profession owes you a debt of gratitude.
Best personal wishes,
Bill O'Donnell

My response of July 10, 2009 7:44 AM was:
Dear Dr. O'Donnell:
You have been gracious now as ever. Persons such as you inspired me to take up this project, years back, and now with support from you I could achieve what WE did.
As I mentioned in the Preface to the first edition, this 'Companion Guide' was meant for persons entering the portals of the profession to walk through the labyrinth of ASME Codes Section I through XI.
Experts such as YOU augmented that effort by providing valuable commentary on Special Topics as well.
Thus, while I am thankful for your kind email, I hope we can continue in the years to come, with our effort to ‘pay back' to the profession
Grateful Regards – KR
