Indeed we had a busy spring and are now embarking today, the first day of summer!
Indira organized a get-together for my 80th birthday which falls on May 9th, 2013 and deferred to have it on ‘Vaisakha Purnima’ which was the day I was born, May 9th 1933 at 10.40 AM.
My older sister Mrs. Meenakshi Peddada, a US citizen was informed of the event. She mentioned that my mother had celebrated my birth at Guntur with friends and relatives that included film artist Sowkar Janaki who sang for the occasion.
Indira orchestrated the entire event starting with issuing invitations to actual occasion which includes puja with Vedic mantra recited by all the three temple priests; a systematic chronicling of the events by a professional photographer-Eugene Perkins, Hitesh Desai video recording, catering of food by Ravi Nimma on plates imported from India and local friends pitching in for a served lunch.
The birth-day cake was custom ordered by Indira designed for 80th birthday.
The highlight of the event was my daughter ‘chronicling of my career from 1993–to-date’ – a pictorial biography - with the assistance of her daughter, Rekha. Madhu Dande helped to provide back ground music for slide show. The screening in the temple auditorium was made possible with the help of Loknath Polepalli.
Most important part of the entire event was the guests who graced the occasion, in spite of the long holiday week-end. This includes the outstation family members Sunder Sashti, Uma, Neil and Rekha; Ishu V. Rao, Leela and Lola.
